Page Experience Updates
Page experience updates were a crucial factor at the end of 2020. New algorithms set to launch in May of 2021 will change mobile search and improve core web vitals metrics. Page experience updates for mobile pages will give users access to sites that can perform better and offer safe browsing on a mobile and desktop browser. Mueller suggests that pages should take a proactive approach before the may update to improve their page experience.
Request Indexing Tool
Request indexing tools were launched and then suspended in mid October. Mueller has suggested that the Google search console will be bringing this tool back in a reformatted format. It has not been totally fixed but the team is working on solutions to amend it.
Focus On YouTube
Around 80% of the videos that are found now come from Youtube and this means that websites that are hosting videos could probably benefit from hosting their content expressly on the YouTube platform.
